So now I totally inderstand how the irradiated skin does not heal, and why the Docs are so concerned about doing anything to it. 2 months after the surgery where they took the port out I woke up Thursday morning and it was opened back up again....all I did was wake up from sleeping...nothing stressful! Its not deep at all, but is opened back up on the surface....will see the Doc Monday so am just keeping it covered and neosporin on it....have been doing everything right nustritionally as well as everything else, so am convinced this skin is just "tough to heal" no matter what....
